Sometimes even after I save my changes to a file using :w, I can undo these changes (using u). But sometimes I cannot undo after I have saved the file with :w. In both cases, I don't close the file or exit vim. Why does vim act differently in two cases? I have observed this happen, but cannot provide the exact sequence of operations right now. Today a co-worker complained about the same (she was not able to undo after saving the file, but she usually can) and I couldn't help her. Any explanation or solution? Thanks!
