*IF* you happen to quote arguments correctly on the command line and/or shell scripts. In my experience, at least 80% of shell scripts out there are broken in this respect. GUI file managers don't count, they don't pass arguments through the shell, and most filesystems used on these platforms happen not to have these restrictions.
