I changed to the latest TortoiseSVN 1.7, works fine. It would have been nice if the e-mails this group generates had a link to this page - so you don't have to google it to find your way back.
I don't really care anymore, I just wanted to tell someone that it didn't work, 1.7 works fine for me.
