If you think my comments were about Git then you missed the point entirely. In fact, it doesn't even make any sense to single out Git, because Git isn't the only SCM system out there that actually supports branching.

Regarding your comment about using the tool that works for you, it really only applies to hobbyists who work alone on their pet projects and are free to make any decision regarding any change to how they've organized it. When someone is a member of a team that is organized around a particular SCM system then that ceases to be a valid assumption. Nevertheless, I fail to see how that has any relevance regarding the way Subversion would be better if it supported branching.
