Hi David, I started some work on this but the results were not as fruitful as I was hoping for. Please see this thread on the developer list for related discussion: http://svn.haxx.se/dev/archive-2011-09/0243.shtml This post by Paul Burba describes the current limitations of mergeinfo elision and suggests a better algorithm: http://svn.haxx.se/dev/archive-2011-09/0248.shtml If you like, you could try to implement this algorithm in a wrapper script to see how well it works.
