I was going to suggest WebDAV too, only I was going to recommend using your OS WebDAV client (assuming your OS has one) to mount the repository, then using your OS shell or disk browser to examine it as desired. I just tried this on Mac OS X and it worked fine. No need to install additional software. (Though there would be the need to enable WebDAV on your repository server, if you're not already using http to serve the repository.)
