The available repository access methods are:

file:/// (no server process; no encryption; for testing local repositories only)

svn:// (svnserve daemon always running or started on demand by initd or 
launchd; no encryption)

svn+ssh:// (svnserve started on demand by sshd; ssh encryption)

http:// (apache httpd daemon always running or started on demand by initd or 
launchd; no encryption)

https:// (apache httpd daemon always running or started on demand by initd or 
launchd; ssl encryption)
