I don't know how svn log is supposed to work in these cases, since I use TortoiseSVN for browsing. But it seems to me that the difference between case (3) and (5) is inconsistent.

path or object is deleted on the command line

I sort of asked the same thing many months ago. The reasonable answer was: no, and you don't need it. Don't delete a branch if you might still want to have a look at it. Instead rename or move it. It's still a delete of course, but you can find that delete by going down from HEAD through its new name.
