If the recovery message is always about the last file you edited, Cancel will also work, but in that case you need to adjust your method of working by specifically closing OpenOffice and then waiting a few seconds (five should be sufficient) for the internal housekeeping to be written to disk before you power off your computer or close your laptop's lid. In the first case above, the Recover message may arise from over-hsaty close down or perhaps from a program or compyuer crash.
