Did you install it as privileged user? I think that you had not the right to write to /usr/bin ...

I am trying to install Open Office on a laptop running Linux Mint. I get to the point of installing the desktop-integration. During the install, I get an error message "trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/soffice', which is also in package libreoffice-common 1:6.4.2-0ubuntu3" I have followed the instructions to remove soffice from /usr/bin. When I check /usr/bin, soffice is no longer there, implying that I had successfully removed it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Glenn
