We are working on three kinds of problems that folks have reported about
Windows 10 upgrades.
1. Some people, being a little hyper-vigilant after an upgrade, notice that
some files are locked against editing. So far, these are all cases that
existed before the upgrade but were noticed after the upgrade. There is a
known procedure for detecting and removing lingering locks. (These usually
happen when OpenOffice crashes or the computer is shut down without saving a
file that was being edited.) If you encounter this on Windows 10, report it
here and the resolution will be provided to you. (It has not yet been
documented for the web site, wiki, or forum yet.)
2. Some people are reporting problems where their existing documents are now
reported as being read-only. This may be a problem related to how file access
permissions differ after an update to Windows 10. Since this is a rare
problem, we are still looking for people who have it so we can see what the
origin is and how it can be repaired. This appears to be a Windows 10 upgrade
problem but it impacts OpenOffice users so we want to isolate the situation and
be able to advise OpenOffice users who experience this.
IF THIS HAPPENS TO YOU, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CORRECT IT UNLESS YOU ARE EXPERT
IN CORRECTING WINDOWS PERMISSIONS PROBLEMS. Reinstalling, clearing things, or
even reverting back to the earlier OS version can make matters worse. Report
the problem immediately to this list and we will work with you to identify a
confirmable situation that repairs can be offered for. Meanwhile, a bug report
is being used for read-only problems only:

PS: Keep applying updates. There are regular updates for Windows 10 and
you should apply them all. You can accelerate the process of getting current
updates by typing just "update" in the task bar search and then click on "Check
for updates (Desktop app)" near the top of the results.
3. Some have noticed that scaling (Zooming in and out of the document within
OpenOffice) is sometimes "fuzzy" and not sharp for some text at some
magnifications. This may be related to how ODF and hence OpenOffice handle
certain features on fonts (i.e., making bold and italic) different than other
applications. This is being investigated.
WORKAROUND: If the fuzziness is a problem, find a magnification level that
does not have the problem, and still works for you. If you have a serious case
of it, report it here or on this bug report:

Not to worry. AOO 4.1.1 does just fine. I have a 64bit desktop system
and 32 bit Laptop
I had Win 8.1 and upgraded to Win10, via the update.
Everything on both computers works just fine. Be aware any setup you
have will be the same after it reboots for the final time. It took 2
Hours on both of my machines, be patient.
