I was currently using Open Office, because it looks much more easy than Microsoft Word, namely for adding images to a text. It was up to the time, this morning, when I received an advice from you to download the new edition 4.1.0. I downloaded it, and replaced my old edition by the new one. But finally, when I tried to use it, I received the message: Not compatible with Mac OS X 10.6.8.
sad but true, openoffice 4.1 is not compatible with pre-10.7 mac osx systems because apple switched from 32bit to 64bit since 10.7, and openoffice developers cannot afford supporting both versions. however, openoffice 4.0.1 is good too, and you may continue using it on your 10.6 system. i used even 3.4.1 up to a week ago and was quite happy with it.
I did not find how to recover my previous edition of Open Office. Thanks for explaining what I should do for using again Open Office.
