how to display line break in

I want to display something like

def

I try the following code
<h:inputTextarea rows="10" cols="20" readonly="true" 
value="ac<br/>de&lt;br&gt;/"/>

but the output is
ac<br/>de&lt;br&gt;/

so how to let the browser output
ab
def
using <h:inputTextarea>??
