[Trinidad] out-of-range numbers with client-side validation

Hi, I tried for force out-of-range conditions on numeric input values 
while using client-side validation.
The displayed error is simply: "error  null" on FF and "error  null - 
null" on IE.
Is that generic text shown on-purpose so that custom validators must be 
used to get something more understandable or is it some kind of bug in 
js validation machinery ?
Error text appears in:

       <tr:messages text="error" inlineStyle="COLOR: red"/>
And btw - no way to get it red.
