maybe later.
however, there are various solutions for calling perl from java,
and java from perl.
perl is widely available on all systems. only on windows do you
even have to download it.
I'm developing a solution to write perl-mojo's, based on BSF technology [1].

I am actively working on this and it will be available within the next couple
of months, perhaps sooner.
There is also a little know plugin on codehaus that will run any bsf language:
svn checkout
https://svn.codehaus.org/mojo/trunk/sandbox/script-maven-plugin .
That combined with bsfperl [2] can be used to run perl scripts.
