Problem is that (as far as i know) the ArtifactResolver asks the 'local Repository' to give you the artifact. And wagon and other mechanisms in the background perform all the necessary work to get the file to your local repo first. But this is exactly what Dan tries to avoid! The file must not be in the local repo, since this would blew it up.
