Hmm... seems that my information is old: 2.2-beta-1 claims support for classifiers in a dependencyset - though I think I had some issue with it the last time I had to include secondary artifacts with classifiers. See http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MASSEMBLY-107. Please report back if it works for you.
