[maven-release-plugin] version as command line argument ?

Hi,

Is it possible to give the version as command line parameter of the 
release:prepare maven goal ?

For example:

mvn release:prepare -Dversion=1.2.0 -DnextVersion=1.3.0-SNAPSHOT 
--batch-mode
