what is a "symbol dependency issue"? The plugin runs within the IDE because it attempts to capture the application's own output separate from the output of the build. You can definitely override that in the project properties dialog and setup the project to run using the exec-maven-plugin and it's exec goal. or even the java goal (but only together with the external maven execution, otherwise you run in the same VM as the IDE).
