But the dependancy in question was installed manually by a human using install:install-file, which means there will never be any depedancies unless also specified by the human. What I need is for install:install-file to install the files correctly in the local repository only. Having used maven 1 for a number of years, installing files into a local repository was no trouble at all. So far maven 2's repository handling is a nightmare in comparison.
