SCM Element

I thought using scm element in the pom I´d be able to download the
project´s source from a super project that depends on the first project.
Was I wrong? If so, is there a way of doing this without sending a
*-source.jar to my private repository? Also if there´se no way how can I
deploy the source code to my repos? Thanks
