That's the way I do it, and then I use externals to checkout the branch
combination I want (this is actually done automatically for me bythe
Subversive Eclipse plugin). I like this approach because it allows me to
control which subprojects to branch and when. On the other hand the
Maven release plugin can't cope with this setup.
