So I have an HP Officejet 8610 here and no Officejet in the supplied (default?)

When you use the gui tool, it goes off and seems to look for whatever is needed
to support your printer. Not the case here. So how do I figure out which
printer ppd file? and how to add it to the list?

Do you have hpijs installed?

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8610 listed on my cups configuration when I attempt
to modify a printer. It show hpijs as the driver.

I was just figuring this out. I am looking at the cups web interface for my notebook where I am able also have the printer. The 'joy' of a minimal server install is to figure out what you have to add to get it useful! I installed hplip which also installed hpijs.

Now for the hp8600 I have a choice of hpijs or hpcups. My notebook is using hpcups. What is the difference?
