For mysql-5.5.27 on Fedora 17 I have:
general-log = OFF
slow_query_log = ON
log_queries_not_using_indexes = OFF
general_log_file = /var/log/mysqld/general.log
log-error = /var/log/mysqld/error.log
slow_query_log_file = /var/log/mysqld/slow_query.log
I'm still trying to make sense of MySQL's use of dash vs underscore.
You can turn the log file on/off from the command line with program mysql:
mysql> set GLOBAL general_log=OFF;
