There should be multiple directories.
If I try to look at the properties of that directory, it says "contents
unreadable", and under that, "Unknown".
I tried opening 2 JPG files; they could not be opened.

Is ddrescue and/or testdisk likely to help?
ddrescue is more for failing physical media. testdisk might help.
