Yes, I bit the bullet when F41 came out and have managed reasonably
since then. As you say, the big missing functionality is proper KDE
session restore (though that was never perfect on X11 either). I wrote
a couple of scripts which kind of work most of the time, at least for
me
(see: https://gist.github.com/pjoc/a5059b93321ee67d42f4af8d45b7276f),
and opened a bug report on it a while ago. Apparently KDE 6.4 will have
some progress in this direction:
