My desktop PC is also affected by this bug. I have a ATI Radeon HD5850 in my pc and compiz was slow as hell... It runs a lot slower than on my laptop with an integrated Intel card... this should really be solved.
@Ald Gaida. Thank you very much! The xorg-server package from your ppa did the trick. My desktop is lightening fast now! @Ubuntu developers: Please look into this bug.
