After installing the new kernel from the link given by stenten there is no longer a bug, I even tried out the 2.6.33 lucid trunk kernel and the bug did not exist anymore. There just seems to be a problem with the 2.6.32 kernel and I am happy that everyone here helped me solve my problem. The only problem I now face with the new kernel is the broadcom wireless sta/bcmw-source does not work anymore and I cannot get wireless internet. That is a completely different bug report and once again thank you, hopefully I can find a quick fix for my broadcom wireless card and get to enjoy using lucid lynx!
