Hi Martin Wimmer, What appears to have worked for me is to start with "radeon.modeset=0". This disables KMS. Run sudo gedit /etc/default/grub and add it after quiet splash. (so make it "quiet splash radeon.modeset=0"). Then run sudo update-grub.
