In the kernel modesetting (KMS) case it's a duplicate of that bug, as
unfortunately KMS for Radeon HD5xxx series chips was only introduced
upstream in kernel 2.6.34 (and the UMS mode-setting code for Radeon
HD5xxx series chips currently doesn't work well for digital outputs).
However the the ATI Catalyst 10.4 driver should work.
