I can confirm this bug on my laptop Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO V1100. Video: Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller
System hangs after Ubuntu splash (when starts X). No HDD activity, no keyboard replies. Tried vesa driver, tried i915.modeset=1 or 0, nomodeset options -- no luck. FailsafeX mode helps.
