Hey Bryce and Tormod, thanks for the advice. I did so and included radeon.agpmode=4 as a boot parameter, but it has no effect. I even included it as a fixed boot parameter in /etc/default/grub as GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="radeon.agpmode=4" GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="radeon.agpmode=4" but without success. I'll just buy me a new AGP card tomorrow. Thanks again so much for your help!
