This bug is most definitely still present under Lucid. I'm running the latest updates as of April 17. Please nominate! Unfortunately, I can't find anything specific in the relevant logs to indicate the problem. Note this is definitely a compiz issue. It does not happen under kwin with full effects. Also, it does not freeze the system, just the GUI; I can ssh in to the machine and kill X or reboot remotely.
