i had the same issue with karmic and now lucid, and a working workaround (at least on eeepc 901) is to execute the two following commands:
$ synclient TapButton3=3 $ synclient TapButton2=2 this will activate right click with two fingers click, and middle (wheel) click with 3 fingers.
