You have been subscribed to a public bug: I'm on a Intel Q9400 using a ATI HD4670. GUI is Gnome, fglrx and Compiz. Ubuntu is Karmic Koala as of today.
The machine was running fine for 2 days now. I just finished writing an eMail using Chromium and my company's Webmailer. Upon clicking "Send", X crashed (I saw the boot messages and the login-prompt) and a split second later the screen went black completely. The keyboard was not working anymore at this point. After a cold boot, the syslog showed these entries: Feb 24 00:25:21 riddick kernel: [111981.776996] Xorg:1401 conflicting memory types df7b9000-dfc1f000 write-combining<->uncached-minus Feb 24 00:25:21 riddick kernel: [111981.777000] reserve_memtype failed 0xdf7b9000-0xdfc1f000, track write-combining, req write-combining Feb 24 00:25:21 riddick kernel: [111981.777002] [fglrx:KCL_MEM_VM_MapRegion] *ERROR* remap_pfn_range failed Feb 24 00:25:21 riddick kernel: [111981.777015] [fglrx:__create_mapping] *ERROR* Can not get virtual address Feb 24 00Feb 24 00:26:43 riddick kernel: imklog 4.2.0, log source = /var/run/rsyslog/kmsg started. Also this was the first time I had such a crash. The mail was sent successfully, btw. ** Affects: fglrx-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Using Chromium crashed X and made kernel panic https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/526757 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
