I have tried adding tried(i8042.nomux=1) tried( xfree86 drivers) tried ( sudo rmmod psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse) tried ( disabling acpi) but it still persists on 2.6.31-17-generic karmic and pops up randomly, mostly followed by ipw2200 firmware error.
