Just did. First I waited until the login drum sound before turnig on the tv, there was a breif popup saying 16:9 but I don't know if it was the tv or ubuntu. When I logged in it was still in 800x600, display properties 800x600, 640x480.
Second I logged in with the tv still turned off and didn't turn it on until after the ubuntu start/desktop sound. Same 16:9 popup for a moment but still only 800x600 and 640x480 to choose from in display properties.
