I think I fixed this problem on my D600. Im a linux n00b so I dont know how it worked. I basically removed all the touchpad related packages I had installed and reinstalled the mouse package. I noticed I had both touchpad and mouse controls in System->Preferences and it seemed redundant. Now I just have "mouse" and my touchpad left clicks work fine. Hope this helps
