Are you running a fully updated Ubuntu 9.04? Did you manually install
graphic drivers, kernel or other xorg packages? What exactly did you
downgrade? _Only_ the xorg driver _after_ a complete upgrade?
This feels like a duplicate of #419328, but I can't be sure yet...
