** Description changed: I bought the DELL 16" 5640 laptop, preinstalled with Ubuntu. Canonical has even an additional repo for this laptop, so I consider this to be YOUR product as much as DELL's. I know you have a business pact with them and you support these laptops with a special repo, and because of that, I put the blame both on DELL and on Canonical alike. My problem is that there is no palm rejection on this laptop. There was no information that this is not supported, and in 2025, this is a feature that is normal to be part of any touchpad/OS. I've installed also Arch to see if newer versions of libinput do add palm rejection, but no, it doesn't. I also did a bug report at libinput's gitlab, but I feel that this is something that Canonical should have taken care of when the laptop was released. As you can see in my picture, this is the normal way of placing my hands on the laptop (to both type at a moment's notice, and to stabilize the laptop on my lap), and ALL laptops by Apple, and many x86 laptops recognize that the edges don't count (basically they implement palm rejection). With this instead, I have the mouse cursor moving, stopping, moving etc, because the touchpad can't decide which touch has priority. It's the most annoying usage on a laptop I've had in a long time. I'm hitting this ALL the time. - Honestly, I'm angry. I just paid 950 euros to buy this Canonical- - supported laptop, and I find that the touchpad experience is something - out of 2008. And no, that's not a valid reason to return it, the DELL - reseller I bought it from in Greece would never accept that as a reason. - So I'm stuck with using a freaking mouse with it. Unacceptable. + Honestly, I'm angry. I just paid 950 euros to buy this Canonical-supported laptop, and I find that the touchpad experience is something out of 2008.
