Sponsoring patches from comment 15 for oracular and noble with a couple of minor changes. The noble upload needs a different version to ensure it's earlier (using 3.8.12~24.04.1). The oracular upload I'll also tweak to remove the .git garbage I accidentally introduced in the upload for the py3-fix (an unfortunate side-effect of scripting the update to 70 or so packages, which is also why the version number was incongruous for a version 1 style package).
