Public bug reported:
On my laptop with an Intel Core i7-7500U CPU (Kaby Lake), the iHD VA-API
driver does not report VAEntrypointVideoProc support in the output of
vainfo:
libva info: VA-API version 1.17.0
libva info: Trying to open /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/iHD_drv_video.so
libva info: Found init function __vaDriverInit_1_17
libva info: va_openDriver() returns 0
vainfo: VA-API version: 1.17 (libva 2.12.0)
vainfo: Driver version: Intel iHD driver for Intel(R) Gen Graphics - 23.1.2
()
vainfo: Supported profile and entrypoints
VAProfileMPEG2Simple : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileMPEG2Main : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileH264Main : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileH264Main : VAEntrypointEncSliceLP
VAProfileH264High : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileH264High : VAEntrypointEncSliceLP
VAProfileJPEGBaseline : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileJPEGBaseline : VAEntrypointEncPicture
VAProfileH264ConstrainedBaseline: VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileH264ConstrainedBaseline: VAEntrypointEncSliceLP
VAProfileVP8Version0_3 : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileHEVCMain : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileHEVCMain10 : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileVP9Profile0 : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileVP9Profile2 : VAEntrypointVLD
Normally I'd expect to also see a line like:
VAProfileNone : VAEntrypointVideoProc
Among other things, this causes Totem to malfunction with the error "GStreamer
element vaapipostproc is required to play the file, but it is not installed".
Presumably it assumes that if hardware accelerated decoders are available, so
is post processing.
This seems like it might possibly be related to bug 2019831, but that
was about problems in Jammy and the version it suggests should fix the
problem is older than what's shipped in Lunar. Either they reintroduced
the problems, or it wasn't really fixed.
