Sounds like this might be bug 1824874 but I'm not sure.
Please:
1. Attach a photo or screenshot of the problem.
2. Run the following commands:
gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.shell > settings.txt
journalctl -b0 > journal.txt
journalctl -b-1 > prevboot.txt
3. Attach the resulting text files here.
4. Consider upgrading to Ubuntu 21.04 because 20.10 will reach end of
life in a few weeks.
