Public bug reported:
If the "Tearfree" Xorg option for Intel graphics is turned on, painting
the default wallpaper is corrupted. See attached screenshot.
My X11 change from default for the "Tearfree" option is:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Graphics"
Driver "intel"
Option "TearFree" "true"
EndSection
as /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf
Copying the wallpaper to My Pictures and setting as wallpaper doesn't
show the corruption. Using other wallpapers including included
wallpapers shows no corruption.
Removing the "tearfree" option then logoff/logon doesn't show the
wallpaper corruption (but gives me screen tearing when playing videos,
which I don't like. Using the Wayland option shows no wallpaper
corruption.
