Saluton, I have found a way to get around my variant of the problem: On login, my system would start an instance of "update-notifier" with "startup-delay=60", and during the first minute my system always was stable. So I deactivated this update-notifier, and since then I haven't had the problem any more – so far. I cannot say if that means that "update-notifier" is in any way related to the problem. It certainly should not be able to lock up the X session if there were not a problem within the X server, should it?
