It looks like using Nvidia on this laptop is optional. I wonder; can you
please uninstall the Nvidia driver and then tell us if the problem still
occurs?

If so, then please run:

  dpkg -l > allpackages.txt

and attach the resulting file 'allpackages.txt'.
