It appears you are stuck in recovery mode, which prevents most graphics
drivers from working properly ("nomodeset"):

To fix this, reboot and as soon as the screen turns purple, tap Escape
once (and only once). Then choose Advanced options and select the normal
(not the recovery) kernel.
