This may be related. I am using an ATI X1900 and when trying to use
gnome-display-properties to configure my multiple monitors (2 x
1600x1200) gnome-display-properties would hang. I worked around the
hang by starting gnome-display-properties with sudo from the command
line. Still, I could not get anything except for mirrored screens.
Finally, in my xorg.conf file I set Virtual to "3200 1200" and then I
was able to configure my displays using gnome-display-properties. Now
it appears to work fine. Hope this helps. If you need additional
information, please let me know. Thanks.
