I observer two additional phenomena on the same computer: * Screensaver doesn't turn on. Screen just blinks when screensaver should be activated. * When the power cord is detached, the screen goes black. I assume that the driver tries to lower the backlight, however I'm not sure whether the laptop has this functionality at all.
