Wayland is just a protocol, so it doesn't have "backends" of its own.
Actually, desktop environments that support Wayland clients use "native"
backends. That means they implement their own logic to interface with
the kernel and the hardware. So you would be asking for a mir client
that emulates that kernel DRM/KMS layer. I don't think anyone is ever
going to do that.
>From another perspective though, good news! Mir 0.28.0 introduces
support for Wayland apps.
